Young people enjoy London Fields Lido

Outdoors and Leisure

SUNDAY league football’s spiritual home, Hackney Marshes, and the capital’s only 50 metre, heated, outdoor swimming pool, London Fields Lido, are just two of the top sport and fitness venues in Hackney.

Clissold Park, Britannia, Kings Hall, Queensbridge and SPACe leisure centres all cater for a variety of sports, with many having gyms and pools. Free swimming for under-18s, over-60s, and people with disabilities and their carers is available at most Hackney leisure centres run by social enterprise GLL.

While in Stoke Newington, The Castle climbing centre and West Reservoir Centre teach climbing and water sports respectively.

There’s also a variety of clubs and Hackney Council managed courts and pitches including floodlit tennis and basketball courts at Hackney Downs, in Lower Clapton, which is also home to a bike polo club; skate park, ping pong tables and multi-use games areas at Clissold Park and London Fields; and an astro-turf sports pitch and BMX cycle track at Haggerston Park.
