We love weekends

ENJOY the sunny weather in Hackney with a rooftop bar in Hoxton, cultural events in Hackney Central or soak up the rays in one of the area's award-winning parks.

Hackney parks

It’s summer, it’s hot (finally); what else do you do all day but lounge about in a park? Hackney has more green spaces than any other part of inner London, plus you can top up your energy levels at their surrounding restaurants and cafes.

No Sweat

Take your pick of Hackney’s sunny rooftops this weekend, but Queen of Hoxton will channel memories of London 2012 with a silly sports day. Watch competitors compete in beer pong, rock paper scissors, limbo, frying-pan-ping-pong, ladder golf and speed foos-ball. Saturday 5 July.

East End Film Festival

Catch more international premieres, industry masterclasses, free pop-up screenings and live events at one of London’s largest film festivals. Prices/venues vary. Until 10 July.

Fifty Words

Step into the marital home of a couple spending their first night alone together in years, and see unexpected – and searingly intimate – events unfold with compelling honesty. The performance takes place at Arcola Theatre. £18, conc £14. Until 20 July

Hackney Central cultural programme

The six-month cultural calendar celebrating the pedestrianisation of Narrow Way continues with the traditional festivities of St John at Hackney Fete, and an art workshop from Artburst, which will see the birth of rubbish-eating dragon Recyclatron. Free. 10am-4pm. Saturday, 6 July.
