Video: Stoke Newington film club takes movies back to their literary roots

LITERATURE has long been a prime source for filmmakers and producers. Now, creative collective The Flicker Club is examining this rich literary history with fortnightly screenings of book-inspired cinema.

Every two weeks, the Stoke Newington Town Hall based club shows a film, alongside related in-situ performances, and gets a famed actor or writer to read from the source material.

So far Sir Ian McKellan, Mark Gatiss, Simon Callow, John Sim, Joan Collins, Miranda Richardson, and Zawe Ashton are among the names to have introduced films.

For a taste of what to expect watch this video, or visit The Flicker Club website for listings and more information.
