Video: Headway East London dance marathon preview

COMMUTERS got a quirky yet sublime insight into Headway East London's annual dance marathon when the brain injury charity held a preview at Liverpool Street Station.

Bemused bystanders looked on as a half-naked man dressed in 19th century sports gear braved April’s early cold snap to raise awareness for the Hackney charity’s fund-raiser.

Others who shook a leg in the EC1 station were Bollywood and salsa dancers, and members of Hackney troupe Swing Patrol, who all demonstrated examples of what to expect at the event.

The Headway East London dance marathon lasts eight hours, with each hour representing a decade of music and dance styles. Proceeds go towards supporting people affected by brain injury.

Alex Beattie, events manager at Headway East London, said all abilities are welcomed and dance leaders are trained to help fund-raisers through the steps.

The dance marathon takes place on 27 April at St John-at-Hackney Church, Lower Clapton Road, E5 0PD.
