Urban Masters: street art exhibition to open in Shoreditch

A NEW street art exhibition, where artists pay homage to those that inspired them, is opening in Shoreditch on 9 November.

Thirty-two influential urban and street artists are acknowledging the ‘masters, masterpieces and muses’ that influenced their careers.

The exhibition Urban Masters features work from the top street artists of today including Joe Black, Rone, Risk, ROA, Mentalgassi, Banksy, Gris, Nick Gentry and Shepard Fairey, who is best known for his Barack Obama ‘Hope’ poster.

Taking place in a Victorian factory in Shoreditch, the Opera Gallery exhibition showcases different styles, with contributors giving insights into what made them the artists they are today.

Opening night on 9 November will include a free poster giveaway and book signings. All book sales will go to charity Anti-Slavery International.

The ‘Godfather of street art’ Blek Le Rat, a 60-year-old Parisian stencilist regarded by Banksy as his chief inspiration, will be among those in attendance, as will Remi Rough, Zezao and some of the most cutting edge urban artists around.

Urban Masters exhibition takes place from 9-18 November, at Factory 7, Hearn Street, EC2A 3LS. For more info, visit: www.operagallery.com
