We love Easter – part 1

FOLLOW the first part of a two-part guide on how to have a cracking Easter in Hackney this year, with egg-cellent fun for everyone.

Easter egg hunts at Hackney Homemade market and Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

There will be plenty of homemade Easter goods and cakes on sale at this friendly local market, as well as an Easter egg hunt for kids too. Free. 30 March, 11am-4pm.

At Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, search for hidden chocolate treasures in amongst the trees and spring flowers before listening to enchanting tales of March hares and magical eggs with Sonia Caller, storyteller from the Magic Tree. Free. 31 March, 2-4pm.

Egg-citing prizes at Stoke Newington Farmers’ Market

Visitors to this award-winning market will receive a free raffle ticket to be in with a chance of winning a goose egg. There’s also a competition where children, who can identify a lucky egg hidden amongst egg shells, will win a delicious chocolate prize. It costs 10p a go, with all profits going to a North London homelessness charity. 30 March, 10am-2.30pm.

Spring fête at Sutton House

East London’s oldest domestic property is hosting an Easter fête full of egg-cellent Easter activities, including arts and crafts and special costumes. 31 March, 12noon-4pm. There will also be an Easter egg hunt trail every day from 28 March to 14 April.

Cracking egg hunt at Chatsworth Road Market

At Chatsworth Road Market artist Laura Quick has designed eggs which will be hidden about the shops and market. Collect a sheet from the info stall and tick off eggs as you spot them to win a prize. Face painting available too (£2 a go). 31 March, 11am-4pm (hunt from 12noon-3pm).
