London 2012 inspired sports challenge needs Hackney young people as ambassadors

A NEW healthy living initiative for those living, working and going to school in the London 2012 Games host boroughs, which includes Hackney, needs enthusiastic young people to take on the role of 'ambassador'.

The Take 12+ Challenge is a fun way for children, young people, families and seniors to contribute to their community through being active.

The challenge is to complete 12 hours or 12 km of physical activity in 12 weeks. Participants will be able to access free technology including a smart phone app to help track their activity and progress.

Ambassadors are needed to get people to take part in the challenge, make them aware of the sports and leisure facilities in their area, and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The ambassadors will receive training and one-to-one mentoring, as well as the opportunity to gain a professional reference to boost their future job opportunities.

The scheme is open to Hackney residents, aged between 16 and 25. To request an application form e-mail: nicola@take12.org
