Up on the roof

THE minute the sun comes out, there’s always some dude walking around in shorts and shades, despite the fact it’s not actually that warm.

“That’s not a good look,” I hear you mutter to yourself. But in this case, it’s Jeff Bridges, so it’s ok.

In fact, an evening watching ‘The Big Lebowski’ at the Rooftop Film Club is more than ok. It’s an experience. It really didn’t matter if you’d seen this cult classic before or not, this was about more than just watching a movie.

There are amazing views into the City from the top of the host venue, The Queen of Hoxton; tasty burgers sizzling on the barbeque; and a handy bar serving a tribute drink inspired by the night’s film, in this case a White Russian.

Everyone is kitted out with high quality headphones, so there’s no danger of background noise ruining your film-going experience (unlike nights out at the multiplex).

We went in the opening week of the club’s new season and there’s a great programme of 80s classic and newer films lined up for the rest of the summer ranging from ‘Withnail & I’ and ‘Top Gun’ to ‘Argo’ and ‘Blue Valentine’.

Just one word of warning. Wrap up warm, it's not summer yet. For more info on the Rooftop Film Club, or to book tickets, click here.
