Retz Theatre reimagines Kafka's The Trial at Shoreditch Town Hall

IF you've ever wondered about the meaning of ‘Kafkaesque’ – a new immersive theatre experience at Shoreditch Town Hall will provide a gripping first-hand insight.

Inspired by the themes of Franz Kafka’s dark short story 'The Trial', this two-part production by Retz theatre company puts audiences on the spot in a one-to-one confrontation with the workings of power.

The original 1925 story is given a contemporary spin, in the month that the new ‘Google for spies’ software is released, exploring the effects of ever-evolving surveillance technology.

Through the nooks and crannies of this atmospheric East London setting, the 40-member cast will evoke questions about identity and power and how far we should go to defend them.

Part One of The Trial runs at Shoreditch Town Hall until 27 April.
