Short film festival to showcase UK filmmaking visionaries

ECCENTRIC and idiosyncratic films made by the UK filmmaking frontline are to be presented at the London Short Film Festival.

Now in its 10th year, the annual event is taking place in Hackney at Rio Cinema, Hackney Picturehouse, The Book ClubRich Mix and The Aubin.

On 5 January Rio screens ‘Romance at the Rio’, a matinee of love stories, before it goes macabre at ‘Midnight movies’ with an after hours selection including one tale about a gimp, radiator and alarm clock. There's to be a night of music, screenings and exhibition on 12 January when 'At home with the Ludskis' opens.

Hackney Picturehouse explores the fashion, technology and film union in its screening, Q&A and  networking session 'Fashion popcorn' on 8 January. Filmmakers will be introducing longer shorts, including one on post troubles Belfast, at 'Short longes',  12 January. Love stories with twists are shown at ‘A winter’s matinee of romantic shorts’ on 13 January.

Other events include hard-hitting a family drama selection, Family Affairs at The Aubin, and a farewell party at The Book Club for Fujifilm’s motion picture film, which will cease production on 1 April.
