New Empowering Church Afro-Latin night to raise money for torture victims

FROM baile funk and Carioca bass, to Latin and African sounds, Freedom From Torture joins forces with Tourism DJs to put on a night of tropical mayhem on 7 December.

The charity is raising money for sufferers of abuse and violence by rolling in top international musicians to perform at the New Empowering Church in Hackney.

Over 2,000 people every year are referred to the organisation. Many have suffered horrific experiences – having been targeted for their race, religion, sexuality, gender or political stance – while standing up for their rights in the face of violence and discrimination.

The night will consist of collaborations with Angolan/Portuguese Soundway Records’ Batida, who have been making their mark in Europe and taking their live show to the biggest festivals across the continent.

Tourism DJs will deliver the hottest Afro, electro and tropical sounds, and completing the line-up are ZZK Record’s Frikstailers, who will be making their UK debut.

The festival then continues at Cafe Oto in Dalston on 20 December with Kafka Presents.
