Shoreditch party will ensure doomsday goes with a bang

WHILE much of the world is revelling in celebrations of birth, mirth and Christmas cheer this December, one corner of Shoreditch will become a carnival of destruction.

The dismal conclusion of the Mayan and Hopi Mesoamerican calendars on 21 December 2012 has lead some to fear that life as we know it will come to an end on this date.

If this does prove to be the case, Hackney will be going out in style with an apocalypse-themed fair, street art exhibition and array of festivities and doomsday indulgences.

Based under the arches of the East London Line in Old Street, Eve of Destruction will feature a daily line-up of live-art production, DJs, bands and other impromptu events in the countdown to the final hour.

End of the Line will host a range of resident artists, with live-screen projections from Hit + Run, while Streetfeast will ensure a last supper of some of London’s best street food as well as plentiful cocktails and spiced wine.

The free-entry fair, exhibition and merriment takes place at 347-349 Old Street, EC1V 9LV, from 12noon to 11pm daily, except Mondays, until 21 December.
