British and international independent movies get star treatment at East End Film Festival 2013

THE East End Film Festival returns with more films and events over two weeks – its longest ever run.

With an emphasis on new filmmakers and digital visionaries, the festival highlights the area’s revolutionary film, music and arts output as well as talent from across the world.

From the UK, Oscar-nominated director Mike Figgis’s murder mystery ‘Suspension Of Disbelief’ screens; as does ‘We Are The Freaks', a high octane teen comedy; ‘Satellite Boy’, about a young lad abandoned in an Australian cinema; The East (pictured); and ‘Discoverdale’, a fly-on-the-wall mockumentary about a singer who believes his father is Whitesnake’s David Coverdale.

The festival closes with US star studded drama ‘Lovelace’, the tragic story of Linda Lovelace, the most famous porn actress of the 1970s.

East End Film Festival screenings take place across a number of venues, including Hackney cinemas, between 25 June and 10 July.
