Photo auction to raise money for East London HIV charity

LONDON 2012 gold medallists Mo Farah and Jody Cundy are among the amateur photographers to have donated pictures to raise money for an HIV charity.

Positive East has been delivering HIV services in East London for 25 years. On 7 November, it will be putting on an Instagram photo auction at Hoxton Apprentice. Proceeds from the sale go towards supporting the charity’s work.

Director Mark Santos said: “The demand for Positive East’s services in our community has never been greater, and with strains on our resources at the moment, we are delighted that Instagramers London and our supporters have come together to put this wonderful event on.”

Hoxton ward councillor Carole Williams, who helped organise the auction, added: “I wanted to do something to remember my friend Barry, who was the first person I knew who was HIV positive.

"When he was alive he didn’t have the sort of services that Positive East offers. Now I can do my bit to help raise the funds they need in order to deliver the support, help, and advice that wasn’t available back then.”

The auction, which is free to enter, takes place on 7 November at Hoxton Apprentice, 16 Hoxton Square, N1 6NT. For more on Positive East, call: 020 7791 2855; or visit: www.positiveeast.org.uk
