David Walliams gets into the swim of things at London Fields Lido

ACTOR and comedian David Walliams launched a new swimming challenge at London Fields Lido, encouraging people to get fit in the water.

The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge was joined by Olympic swimming gold and silver medallists, Rebecca Adlington and Keri-anne Payne, at the SwimBritain launch on
29 May.

British Gas SwimBritain is a swimming relay challenge for teams of four, with each team member swimming a distance of 1,000 metres.

The event is open to swimmers of all abilities and will take place at ten pools and one open water venue, across the country between 31 August and 29 September. London Fields Lido is hosting the SwimBritain final on the last day of the challenge.

David, who has already completed numerous swimming challenges, including a 140-mile swim down the River Thames and a swim across the Channel, said: “Swimming is refreshing, relaxing and a great escape from every day life – as well as being good exercise – so I’m encouraging as many people as possible to find their nearest event, team up and give it a go.”

Rebecca added: “SwimBritain is a big team relay event where you each swim 1,000 metres. It’s just a fun challenge to
get you involved in swimming and get people healthier and more active.”
