Win tickets to see cult films at The Yard

CREATIVE space The Yard is continuing its series of classic films – with the addition of a cross-dressing party – in its Hackney Wick home.

This week, the E9 warehouse theatre  is screening movies loosely based on oddball film and TV themes, kicking off with Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s homage to B-movies, Ed Wood on 28 February.

Then on 1 March, it's the popular 1980s comedy Tootsie starring Dustin Hoffman as a washed up actor who cross-dresses to win a plum role. Featuring memorable comic turns from Dabney Coleman, Teri Garr, George Gaynes, Bill Murray and Geena Davies, the film will be followed by an audacious cross-dressing party with the possibility of the odd drink on the house.

Finally this week, there's enchanting Oscar winner and love letter to silent films The Artist on 3 March, which shows just how fleeting fame can be. The evening will conclude with some live accordion music.

A dormant East London warehouse, The Yard was converted and split into two sections – one housing the theatre, the other a bar and café in 2011. Made with recycled and reclaimed material, the theatre seats 130 in a fully raked amphitheatre.

Tickets for Films at the Yard are available to buy for £7.

For a chance of winning a pair of free tickets to one of the three film screenings this week, retweet this story on Twitter; share on Facebook; or send an e-mail to: info@destinationhackney.co.uk. Please state your preferred night in the entry text.
