Charity festival Oxjam to take place in nine Hackney venues

OXJAM Stoke Newington is hoping to break the £10,000 tally achieved last year when the fundraising music festival rolls back into Hackney this weekend.

The event takes place in various locations across the country to raise money for Oxfam, the global charity that campaigns against poverty.

An announcement from the Hackney branch of the event, which raised just over £9,500 in last year, said: “In an effort to smash the £10,000 mark, we went all out to try and provide you with the best line up that charity and goodwill can buy.

"We’ve booked nine venues and secured some of the best up and coming bands from the epicentre of the London music scene. We’re not kidding when we say you’ll be hard pressed to find a better line up on the planet for £8.”

Among performers for the 20 October event include electro R&B newcomer NZCA/Lines, drum and bass hero and original member of Reprazent DJ Krust, art rockers Kites and lush psychedelia from the fantastically named The Time and Space Machine.

Shows take place at Bar Tipsy, Bar 23, Hysteria Kristina Records, The Moustache Bar ,The Nest, The Waiting Room, The Victoria, Trash Bar and Question Mark Bar. All door proceeds go to Oxfam.
