Preview: Alpha-ville

TWO of Hackney’s key cultural hubs will play host to cutting-edge experiments in sound and sight this October, with events exploring the relationship between electronic music and visual performance.

Grounded in East London, but with an international profile, Alpha-ville is a cultural organisation focusing on creativity, innovation and forward thinking across various disciplines, and has established itself firmly on the global digital arts panorama.

In lieu of its annual festival, Alpha-ville this year presents two carefully crafted shows at Hackney Empire and Hackney Picturehouse.

Alpha-ville LIVE will encapsulate the full audiovisual experience with a unique programme featuring the London premiere of collaborations between Murcof & AntiVJ, alongside solo performances by guest artists, The Field and Byetone at the Empire.

Off the back of this, the Alpha-ville Future of Moving Image programme and award event will feature the latest in animation, video art, interactive, documentary and music video in an equally mind-altering mix, chaired by a panel of international judges at the Picturehouse. It's followed by the Alpa-ville Unfinity screening programme.

Alpha-ville performances take place on 6 October at Hackney Empire and Hackney Picturehouse. For information and tickets, visit: www.alpha-ville.co.uk; or: www.hackneyempire.co.uk/2818/shows/alphaville-live.html
