We love...weekends

FESTIVALS and exhibitions rein this weekend with events for all tastes - especially outside Jamie Oliver's restaurant. 

Still Standing, until 15 September
It’s the last chance to catch the creator of Angel of the North’s most recent exhibited work at White Cube. Antony Gormley has created 17 statues made of cast iron blocks exploring the verticality of the body. See: www.whitecube.com

Mapping the Change, until 15 September
An exhibition recording the changes in Hackney during the lead-up to London 2012 Games also ends this weekend. This installation of images, stories, films and artefacts at Hackney Museum is the culmination of four years' work of hundreds of residents, community groups, businesses and Hackney Council. Hackney Wick Festival, 15-16 September
The engine room of Hackney’s art scene celebrates with free dance, theatre and art shows and live music. Billed as a community event, Hackney Wick Festival includes ‘urban sports’ like Parkour, capoeira, and shows for the kids too. See: www.hackneywickfestival.org.uk

Fifteen Street, 15-16 September
UK traders set up stall outside Jamie Oliver’s restaurant for an afternoon of street food and picnics. The event continues until later with DJs, a cocktail mix-off and beach hut. See: www.fifteenstreet.co.uk

London African Music Festival, until 29 September
Concerts are taking place all over the borough in celebration of the African diaspora. The festival starts tonight at Vortex Jazz Bar with Dionne Warwick collaborator Jumoke Fashola and continues in Hackney PicturehouseRich Mix and New Empowering Church until the end of the month.
