Maggie, Maggie, Maggie: 1 Sept
Hackney Empire takes on the Thatcher years and today’s Coalition Government as part of its programme of events to mark British comedy history - Ha Ha Hackney. Her Marg-esty (played by Spitting Image voice actor Steve Nallon) headlines, with back up from Arthur Smith, Hardeep Singh Kohli, Terry Alderton, Tony Slattery and Graeae Theatre’s Reasons to be Cheerful band, who performed at the Paralympics opening ceremony. A photographic exhibition celebrating 50 years of Jamaican independence: until 1 Sept

1234 Shoreditch and Summer Rites: 1-2 Sept 
Expect an ecstatic audience to sing-a-long to the Buzzcocks' Ever Fallen In Love at this year’s 1234 Shoreditch. The seminal punk band headline this Shoreditch Park festival with a line up that includes Mark Stewart, The Duke Spirit and Citizens! Gay club culture takes over on Sunday for the Summer Rites festival; Dalston Superstore and Gutterslut are among the Hackney dance music collectives hosting tents. Grimeborn: 1-2 Sept
