New stand-up comedy night at Hackney Picturehouse

WHAT happens when a Geordie, a Pom and an Aussie walk into an attic?

The punchline will be revealed at Hackney Picturehouse as part of the venue’s new monthly stand-up event, Comedy Loft, which will host some of the most acclaimed young comic talent from the international circuit.

The event at Hackney Attic will be one of the borough’s only regular comedy nights and features three off-the-chart acts on 25 July: Luke Benson and Bryony Kimmings alongside Antipodean Celia Pacquola. It is hosted by fellow comic Tom Webb.

All three performers have been hailed by critics for their distinct, individual styles, ranging from the deadpan to the disarming and the reportedly dangerous (performance artist Kimmings recently made headlines with the alcoholic and comic feats of her ‘7 Day Drunk’ show at Soho Theatre.)

For those locals unable to make it to Edinburgh this season, Hackney Attic promises to stand and deliver.

Comedy Loft, 25 July, Hackney Attic, 270 Mare St, E8 1HE. Tickets: £6-8. More info: 0871 902 5734; or: www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Hackney_Picturehouse/Attic
