We love weekends

IF it's making an advent wreath with the kids or an unusual Sunday lunch that takes your fancy, then look no further. There's something for everyone in this weekend's guide to Hackney.

Christmas Workshops, Geffrye Museum

There’s a host of festive fun for all ages this weekend at the Geffrye Museum in Kingsland Road. Count down to Christmas and take the kids to make an advent wreath; sing-a-long to Christmas carols with the whole family; and for young people, aged 11-19, get creative making funky wrapping paper and tags. All of these fabulous activities are free; admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Saturday, 1 December

Clarence Mews Open Weekend, Clarence Road

A thriving community of designers and craftsmen tucked away in Clarence Mews, moments from Hackney central, throw open their doors on Saturday and Sunday. Clients, customers and casual visitors will be able to visit an exciting mix of studios and workshops, from the creative Cazenove Architects to Joux Joux’s shoes and Cressida Bell’s innovative range of fabrics, lighting, rugs and illustrations. Turn your back on the high street for a unique shopping experience. Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 December

Street Feast Xmas Grotto, Old Street

Try a taste of something unusual for Sunday lunch at Street Feast in Shoreditch. Sample delicious dishes such as Mama’s Jerk Chicken, pan-Asian burgers washed down with 'Rum-Jungle' punch, or a moreish New York-style hot dog. And if that’s not enough, End of The Line and HIT+RUN bring you a Christmas grotto like no other as well as a pop-up Christmas cocktail bar. Sunday, 2 December
