Rihanna reigns over Hackney

HACKNEY Weekend came to a rousing end on Sunday night with headline act, Rihanna, treating the crowd to a storming set of hits.

Behind a Cleopatra-inspired backdrop complete with giant Sphinx, the singer, who was sporting a sharp fringe and clad in a T-shirt, stockings and trainers, belted out a string of chart-topping tunes including ‘Rudeboy’, ‘We Found Love’, ‘What’s My Name’, 'Umbrella' and ‘Love The Way You Lie’.

While fans roared in approval, the star seemed just as awestruck by the crowd. She said: “Hackney, you guys are making this such a memorable event for me.”

Following her guest appearance alongside Jay-Z the previous night, the US rapper returned the favour by joining Rihanna for three songs including 'Run This Town', making sure festival-goers on both days got to see the dynamic duo in action.

The show ended with spectacular fireworks and another name-check to the crowd: “Hackney, you rock. I don’t want to go.” And the crowd didn’t want her to go either.
