We love...weekends

IT’S (probably, fingers crossed) going to be a warm weekend. So after a lazy day sunning in one of Hackney's parks, check out some of these events taking place in the borough.

Shock Therapy, 7 Sep
Live gig downstairs in one of Hackney’s best cocktail bars, Off Broadway. Musician Allegra Shock plays a combination of rock, folk and Americana on her electric harp. Emil Lager and Apple Of My Eye also perform. See: www.offbroadway.org.uk

Pussyfoot, 7 Sep
Relaxed Gillett Square venue Servant Jazz Quarters dishes up a night of live swing music. Duo Zac Gva and Fumi Okiji start the dance at 10pm. See: www.servantjazzquarters.com

Beauty and the Beat, 8 Sep
This one is a bit special. Cedric Woo, Cyril Cornet and Jeremy Gilbert are putting on another very secret bash in a hidden spot in Hackney. DJs play the deepest of disco and tripped out psychedelic sounds to an audiophile crowd. See: www.houseparty.org.uk

Hackney Film Festival, until 9 Sep
Live screenings, Q&As and other film-related shows are packed into this event. Hackney Film Festival will entertain audiences at The New Empowering Church, Café Oto and Hackney Picturehouse. See: www.hackneyfilmfestival.com

Squatters Den Live Sessions, 9 Sep
The gig is the first in a new series of live music shows taking place on the top floor of pop-up mall Boxpark. Tarq Bowen, Charlotte Carpenter, JP Palombo and Rufio Summers play. See: www.squattersden.blogspot.com
