Field Day and The Apple Cart festival fun

OVER the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, Victoria Park will host two of East London’s most exciting one-day festivals: music-centric Field Day on 2 June, and family-friendly The Apple Cart on 3 June.

Tom Baker, founder of the two boutique festivals, explains: “Field Day is for a music-loving crowd. You can discover new music alongside your favourite band. It’s about hosting acts who then break into the mainstream – we’ve had Florence + the Machine, The XX, Bat for Lashes, and Mumford & Sons play here in the past.

The Apple Cart is a family-orientated festival with a focus on music, magic, comedy and cabaret. There is also a magician tent hosted by the only female magician in the Magic Circle.”

Highlights for this year’s Field Day include Metronomy, SBTRKT, Jessie Ware and Afrocubism. The Apple Cart’s music line-up includes Billy Bragg, Gilles Peterson and Noah & The Whale, while celebrated comic names like Rich Hall, Shappi Khorsandi and Josh Widdicombe will take the stage in the comedy tent.
