RIDLEY Road is a great place to experience the hustle and bustle of a traditional East End market.
At the beginning of the 20th century the area was a centre of the Jewish community. Since then, Greek, Asian, Turkish and West Indian communities have also settled in the area and today the market is a vibrant celebration of this cultural mix.
Ridley Road Market started with around 20 stalls towards the end of the 1880s, and now more than 181 stalls offers a range of quality goods at very competitive prices.
Market sellers peddle all manner of wares including meats, sweets, salted nuts, exotic fruit and vegetables, colourful fabrics and clothes and almost every spice under the sun.
